Model Groups
Model groups help VLX FLUX provide different model access plans, pricing multipliers, and usage scenarios. For API customers, the most important point is simple: the model you choose and the group it belongs to affect availability and billing.
What a Model Group Means
A model group is a usage category for models. Different groups may be optimized for different scenarios, such as coding tools, general chat, image generation, or high-demand models.
For users, a group mainly affects:
- Which models your API key can access
- The billing multiplier used for requests
- Recommended usage scenarios
- Whether a model is suitable for a specific client or workflow
You do not need to understand the internal routing or provider configuration. Use the model names and prices shown in the dashboard.
Common Group Examples
| Group | Typical Use Case | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Default Group | General API usage | Suitable for most chat and application scenarios |
| Codex Group | Coding agents and developer tools | Often used with Codex-style clients |
| CC Group | Claude Code usage | Often used with Claude Code-style workflows |
| Image Group | Image generation | Used for image models and related endpoints |
The exact group names, model availability, and pricing may change. Always check the dashboard for the latest information.
Billing Multipliers
Some groups use a multiplier. The multiplier adjusts the final billed amount based on the base model cost.
Example:
| Base Cost | Multiplier | Billed Amount |
|---|---|---|
| $0.10 | x0.5 | $0.05 |
| $0.10 | x1.0 | $0.10 |
| $0.10 | x1.5 | $0.15 |
If a model has a lower multiplier, it may be more cost-effective for the same base usage. If a model has a higher multiplier, it may reflect higher upstream cost, premium routing, or special availability.
How to Choose a Group
Choose based on how you use the API:
- For general chat applications, start with models in the Default Group.
- For coding tools, use the group recommended for that tool.
- For Claude Code-style usage, use the CC-related group if available.
- For image generation, use image models and image endpoints.
- If you are unsure, start with a lower-cost model and verify output quality before scaling usage.
Model Access
Not every API key can access every model or group. Access may depend on account status, balance, permissions, current model availability, or product rules.
If a request fails with 403 Forbidden or model not found, check:
- Whether the model name is spelled exactly as shown in the model list
- Whether your account has permission to use that model
- Whether your balance is sufficient
- Whether the model is temporarily unavailable
Where to Check the Latest Information
Use the dashboard to confirm:
- Available models
- Group names
- Current pricing
- Billing multipliers
- Usage history
- Remaining balance
The dashboard is the source of truth for real-time pricing and availability.
